dc.description.abstract | The purpose of the sought to find out the relationship between drug and substance abuse and domestic violence among the residents of Katanga. The study intending to achieve the following objectives; to examine the levels of drug and substance abuse, to examine the levels of domestic violence, to examine the relationship between dug and substance abuse and domestic violence. A correlational study design was used in the study to establish the relationship between drug and substance abuse and domestic violence. The study used a sample of 200 respondents and adopted cluster random sampling technique. Data was collected using self-administered questionnaire and later analyzed using statistical package for social sciences. The levels of drug and substance abuse were found to be low. Results revealed low levels of domestic violence. Findings also revealed a positive non-significant relationship between drug and substance abuse and domestic violence (r=.234, p>0.05). Although low levels of both variables were observed, some students use drugs and substances as an escape root for the domestic violence that happens in their homes. I recommend the lord Mayor to draft new and stronger policies against drug abusers and domestic violence this is because the study contains statics that show that both drug and domestic violence have increased in the country. | en_US |
