Abstract
Uganda as a country is currently implementing her national development plan III (NDP III) n pursuit to achieve the desired economic transformation and sustainable growth. Under this there is a concept of parish development model (PDM). Across the board, leaders from all walks of life are always visible on different platforms encouraging people to double or more their efforts f they are to achieve in life. In the course of executing the different tasks of any work, workers are always n contact with their fellow workers, tools or machinery to enable effective performance of the tasks. While these tools and machines are imperative n the working environment, they also pause a threat to the lives of the workers. As a result, the concept of occupational health and safety comes in to ensure that workers do their work in an ideally hazard free environment which in practice never exits. However the rates of injures registered depend on the health and safety practices and measures in the work environment. Due to the fact that safety is one of the motivational factors among human beings. It means that there is a relationship between health and safety and the performance of workers in organizations. Therefore the aim of this study was to investigate the impact of health and safety practices on the performance of the workers n the organizations. The study was conducted at Nyaabande Tea Factory. Interviews we conducted with the participant workers. Then thematic analyses was used to analyze the data. The research found out that generally the factory implements the health and safety measures recommended but workers still get exposed to injures, then there is laxity of workers towards health and safety measures, the commitment of the supervisors towards implementing health and safety measures s still lacking and that when a major accident occurs, workers take too long to adjust to the normal working conditions which signifies a drop in productivity.
