    Abstract
This research mainly focuses on investigation how the concept of songs is viewed by analyzing symbolic aspects represented through the oral literature of gishu songs. From the research carried out, I found out that the ideology of symbolism is greatly developed through the local gishu songs a case that is, seemingly different from the western world which is mostly through the films and movies. There is a clear notice that songs are significant in the world of literature and many other regions including Masaba land. It is therefore the core purpose of this study to find out and show how the concept of symbolism is represented and developed in the six selected lumasaba songs. And finally this research recommends that curriculum designers of primary and secondary schools including universities put more emphasis on the integration of oral literature teaching syllabus to help in the preservation of oral literature genres.
