A proposed palliative Architecture for children with cancer; a case study of Kawempe home care.
Abstract
Cancers are among the top causes of death in the country along with diabetes, Ischemic heart
diseases (low and high blood pressure), HIV/AIDS and Stroke, all of which are prone to be
terminal ailments (Ministry of Health, Uganda, 2019). Cancers are a growing health problem
in Uganda and they affect any part of the body. There are different types of cancers due to
different risk factors. Cancers can affect anybody and are influenced by one’s behavior, and/or
exposure to risky conditions/environment (World Health Organisation (WHO), 2007).
Although cancers are a serious health problem leading to suffering and death, they can be
prevented and controlled if and when they are detected early. One of the measures taken to
curb cancers is palliative care.
