Design and implementation of a restaurant management system
Abstract
This dissertation presents the creation of a restaurant management system for the bustling food industry in Kampala, Uganda. The system is designed to help restaurant owners and staff manage their operations more efficiently. It uses the R programming language and is hosted on Shiny.io. The system includes features like staff management, reservations, financial tracking, and order processing. A secure MySQL database stores the data, and the user interface is designed to work on various devices. Extensive testing ensures the system works well. This dissertation discusses the technology used, the database structure, user interface design, feature development, and the testing process. The new system is expected to improve restaurant operations, customer service, and decision making for a better dining experience in Kampala's restaurants.
