Abstract
Uganda just like other countries has a high number of people having motor speech disorders caused by cerebral palsy but still records a small number as most of the population goes unnoticed due to several factors inclusive of stigmatization, poor screening for the condition, and discrimination in societies. Yet this population presents with communication difficulties are neglected in their early years of life when so many changes can be achieved hence early screening and intervention deemed necessary. To determine the communication difficulties in children aged 3 to 17 years having motor speech disorders caused by cerebral palsy in pediatrics ward 15 in (MNRH) Mulago national referral hospital Kampala. Cross-sectional study. Pediatric ward 15 in MNRH Kampala, Uganda. A cross-sectional study among 25 children 3 to 17 years in the pediatric ward 15 in (MNRH) Mulago national referral hospital Kampala between February and June, 2023. Data was collected using a questionnaire and assessment forms including the following information; socio-demographic, pregnancy, family history, medical history, play, hearing, cognition, developmental milestones.
