An investigation on the key determinants of travel insurance uptake

Abstract

The major objective of the study was to investigate the key determinants of travel insurance uptake. Secondary data was used and it was gotten from the website kaggle.com. Analysis of data was done using Stata which involved the use of frequency tables, statistical tests like chi squared and multinomial logistic regression model. Participants who were the majority were those aged between 25-30, those who have never travelled abroad, not frequent flyers and had employment type (private / self-employed). The variables that are significant to the study include age, number of family members, ever travelled abroad, frequent flyer, employment type and Annual income. Graduate or Not and Chronic diseases were insignificant to the study. It is important that stakeholders and respective enforcers put more emphasis on the factors that influence travel insurance uptake because they will be able to safeguard travelers against all unforeseen risks arising from traveling I recommend Travel agencies, Travelers to put into consideration the factors that were proven significant according to the study because they affect the uptake of travel insurance by travelers which will safely guard the travelers against any foreseen dangers that arise from traveling both domestically and internationally.
