    Abstract
Food preparation is important in the food industry all around the globe. However this preparation process is not easy as it requires proper techniques and methods. In that cutting vegetables without emphasizing safety will result in injury to the knife user. In addition to appropriate techniques, the implementation of the cutting process in a short period is also crucial. The production of products such as an automatic vegetable slicer machine able to overcome various problems in the food preparation process majorly occur in most restaurants which consume longer time to serve. This study aims to design a motorized vegetable cutter machine, something that has not yet been designed and implemented for use in Uganda .Thou a couple of these vegetable cutters have been designed and used abroad in restaurants and homes. So after this study, the work efficiency when it comes to cutting vegetables amongst restaurant owners in Uganda will improve drastically from using knives for cutting manually to cutting automatically using a motorized vegetable cutter machine by reducing on the effort put in manually to cut, saving time, improving hygiene during cutting, safety as well as producing more quality cut vegetables in terms of shape and size. The following is a documentation of the final year project report as per requisite for the award of Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering degree. Some of the methods that will be used in this study involve the problem statement, idea generation, detail drawing, material and selection, project fabrication, assembly and test run. A series of tests will be carried out to determine the most suitable rotation speed in order to get the best cutting product. Also periodic evaluations will be carried out in order to ensure that the operation of the machine reaches the set standards. The measurement has been identified to ensure that the cutting process goes as planned. In conclusion this project primarily focuses on designing a motorized vegetable cutter machine for restaurant owners in Uganda with the help of mechanical engineering knowledge
