An investigation into the causes of discrepancies between architectural design and as-built drawings of residential developments in Kampala
Abstract
Many building projects are exposed to variations. This study seeks to investigate the causes of discrepancies between architectural design and as-built drawings of residential developments in Kampala in order to take proactive measures to minimize or appropriately manage them. The study has the following objectives, namely (1) to study the causes of discrepancies between the architectural design and as-built drawings; (2) to determine the impacts of the discrepancies; and (3) to recommend strategies to minimize the discrepancies. Literatures relative to the research area are extensively reviewed. The data gathering approaches included desk study, interviews, and questionnaires to collect both qualitative and quantitative data. Statistical data analysis and interpretations were used and finally the result were concluded and recommended to all stakeholders.
