Motivation into episodic volunteer ships amongst youth in Namayingo district :a case of youthful village Health team in Nambugu Parish.
Abstract
The general aim of the study was to examine the phenomenon of motivation into episodic volunteer ships amongst youth in Namayingo District with youthful village Health teams (VHTs) of Nambugu parish. The specific objectives of the study were to: find out the factors responsible for the shift from long/traditional volunteering to short/episodic volunteering in Nambugu parish, to find out the benefits of episodic volunteering among youthful VHTs in Nambugu parish and to establish the episodic volunteering among youthful VHTs in Nambugu parish. The study was conducted in Nambugu parish in Namayingo District where by the researcher employed a quantitative design. Simple random sampling was used to select the sample of 11 participants. Data was collected by use of in-depth interviews. Frequency tables and grapes were worked out basing on the data entered into Microsoft Excel. In these frequency tables and graphs, analysis was done with a corresponding percentage. Findings reveled that youthful VHTs do a great work in sensitizing the public about sanitation, extending health services to the people of Nambugu parish and the distribution of mosquito nets to fight malaria.
