Experimental investigation on its storage tank for thermal energy storage
Abstract
This project made use of the already developed heat storage tank designed by a PhD student Mr. Jimmy Chicaga. It was designed to work on solar energy but during our experimentation, we used alternating current. The major reason for the development of the heat storage tank is to reduce on the consumption of other forms of energy such as Electricity, Biomass, firewood and charcoal and others due to their related negative effects to the environment such as global warming. A heat storage tank stores inexpensive night-time power in the form of heat in an underground or aboveground water tank, and utilizes it during the daytime, the peak hours of heat demand. This can greatly reduce the unit price of energy consumption, and provides significant cost savings in electricity.
