Perceived organizational support and job satisfaction among senior secondary school teachers in Uganda

Abstract
This study was to find out the relationship between perceived organizational support and job satisfaction among secondary school teachers in Mukono district . The study intended to achieve the following objectives, to establish the levels of perceived organizations support, to establish the levels of job satisfaction and finally to find out the relationship between perceived organizational support and job satisfaction. A correlation study design was used in the study to establish the relationship between the two variables. The study used a total sample of 45 respondents who were selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data was then collected using questionnaires. The data was analyzed using statistical package of social sciences (SPSS) where by H1 and H2 where tested using percentages and frequencies and H3 was tested using Pearson correlation coefficient (r). The levels of perceived organizational support were found to be high. Results revealed fairly high levels of job satisfaction. Findings also revealed that there is a significant relationship between perceived organizational support and job satisfaction (r=0.296, P<0.05) and, the levels of perceived organizational support and job satisfaction among secondary school teachers are relatively and fairly high respectively. There is a positive significant relationship between the two variables. Several policies should be put in place by the ministry of education to show their teachers that they care about their contributions and their well being.
