Challenges faced by students studying Chinese at Confucius Institute at Makerere University
Abstract
This study aims to explore the difficulties faced by Chinese language learners at the Confucius institute of Makerere University in learning Chinese characters and the strategies to overcome these difficulties. The research conducted a questionnaire survey among participants and delved through analysed aspects such as learners personal information, difficulties in learning Chinese characters and strategies for Chinese characters memorization. The results of the study indicate that writing Chinese characters, memorising their structure and understanding their deeper meanings are the most challenging aspects for the learners.
