The project aims to design and develop a digital index responsible for storing, accessing, and retrieving articles about Kyambogo University in Ugandan Newspapers specifically in Daily Monitor and New Vision from 2020-2023 that will provide easy access to articles about Kyambogo University, fast and efficient searching, saving time for users remote access to digital index, enabling users to search and access articles from anywhere, showcase the articles about Kyambogo University to a wider audience, and easily accommodate growing collections and user demands. The objectives of the study were to identify the requirements for developing a digital index of articles about Kyambogo University, to design a digital index of articles about Kyambogo University, to implement a digital index of articles about Kyambogo University and to test and validate the digital index of articles about Kyambogo University The study employed case study research design for this project because it offers in-depth insights into specific phenomena allowing for a comprehensive understanding of complex situations. This research design allowed researchers to collect in-depth and detailed information about the current newspaper indexing system used at Kyambogo University Central Library, and all the requirements necessary for designing, developing, implementing and testing and validating the proposed digital index of articles about Kyambogo University. The study found out the following Kyambogo University Central Library uses a manual newspaper indexing system where the librarians arrange the newspapers according to the type of newspapers received on the daily basis and all the newspapers of the year are bound according to their respective types and they are put on the shelves. At Kyambogo University Central Library when a user comes looking for a certain type of the newspapers, it is the responsibility of the librarian to check for the newspapers on the shelves in order to get the newspapers the user is looking for. The study also found out that the requirements the respondents needed for developing a digital index of articles about Kyambogo University are easy to search for articles, user-friendly interface, cheap in terms of maintenance and updates, scalability, and security of articles. The study concluded that the implementation of a digital index would ease the storage and retrieval of articles about Kyambogo University in the Uganda Newspapers Specifically in the Daily Monitor and New vision from the year 2020-2023 which will be very easy and time saving for the users. The study recommended that digital index for storage and retrieval of articles about Kyambogo University in Daily Monitor and New Vision from year the 2020-2024 should be made available for the librarians at Kyambogo University Central Library. This will help the librarians to effectively store and retrieve the articles about Kyambogo University.
