    Abstract
This feasibility study explores the potential for in-pipe electricity generation within the existing water transmission infrastructure of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) in Uganda. The project evaluates the practicality of deploying a small-scale hydropower sys- tem to harness energy lost in water transmission lines, providing a renewable energy source to power water plant utilities and other local applications. Data collection, network model- ing, and simulations were conducted at two sites, Nabuyonga and Nabijjo reservoirs, to assess technical, economic, and environmental viability. The study reveals significant potential for energy generation, with Nabijjo site showing a higher power output due to favorable phys- ical characteristics. Economic analysis indicates competitive costs compared to traditional hydropower, while environmental benefits include reduced carbon footprint and sustainable en- ergy utilization. Recommendations include initiating a pilot project at Nabijjo, further research on advanced turbine designs, stakeholder engagement, and continuous performance monitoring.
