    Abstract
    This study analyses the significance of sound devices and their relationship to meaning in proverbial expressions/wordplay in selected Lumasaba proverbs. It points out that sound devices in specific Lumasaba proverbs high lights their relevance in the Bamasaba society. The proverbial expressions or wordplay in the Lumasaba culture teach people some lessons like personal hygiene respect for elders and cultural norms, hard work is key among others. And all this contribute to the well-being or moral upbringing of children in society.
