Abstract
This oral literature research project looks at analyzing and examining personification in
selected Rukiga fables and its main purpose is to focus on the reality that is portrayed in fables
to bring about the characters of human beings. Therefore, its overall goal is to analyze the
characterization and characters of different human behaviors in society which are clearly
portrayed by the animals, objects in the stories. These fables teach good morals and lessons to
the attended audience. The reason why I chose this topic of the study is that many people
especially the young, youth and the old undermine and give them less attention to their
functions. This category of group only observes fables as a source of entertainment and funny
without giving great attention to the message they carry as a way of communication, for
example, through fables, one gets to know and understand different ways how people behave
in the community, this teaches them on how to handle and prevent themselves from getting
affected by the ways of such persons with undesirable acts.
I carried out this research study from Kabale district, Kabale Municipality, Karubanda Parish,
kabahangara village where I met many Bakiga people, who some are my relations. I analyzed
data manually and that basically entailed analyzing the characterization, human behaviors and
lessons in the selected Rukiga fables. My final judgment about the Rukiga fables was that, they
bring to light all the undesirable behaviors that people should be aware of and which the
community must know that will help to avoid false accusation of innocent people thus exposing
the truth about each and every person.
