The use of rebus books in enhancing the reading standards in rural schools in Uganda. ( a case study in Kawempe Ttula)
Abstract
Rebus books have been a major deal in educating many people around the world. The existence of these books has been strongly connected but is still a relatively unknown item in the education sector. Many children in Uganda being ignorant about the existence of these books have remained poor readers and writers of what they study or it may be English or any other language. A rebus book is meant to help learners improve on their reading, writing, and speaking skills since they act as puzzles in which words are represented by a combination of pictures and individual letters; for instance, apex might be represented by a picture of an ape followed by a letter x. The investigation and research contained will examine the true purpose of rebus books in improving the reading standards of many Ugandans in rural schools. The inspiration behind this research was drawn from a fact that many people studying in rural areas are poor at reading and this could act as a way of improving on their reading culture in an easier manner in comparison to most teaching items used in most rural schools since people tend to remember a picture attached to a word than words only.
