    Abstract
    Painting is the practice of applying paint, pigment, color or other medium to a solid surface (support base). The medium is commonly applied to the base with a brush, but other implements, such as knives, sponges, and airbrushes, can be used. Due to the increasing costs in painting materials, in Uganda painting materials have been control in any art practices around the world. In Africa we seem to have few reliable and quality art materials. Therefore Margaret Trowel School of Industrial and Fine Arts needs to understand whether painting materials like Oil, Watercolor, Hot wax or encaustic, Spray paint, Digital painting etc has led to high cost of painting materials however it is against this background that has prompted the researcher to investigate on the status of the Effects of high cost of painting materials to selected practicing artists at the Margaret Trowel School of Industrial and Fine Arts (MTSIFA)
