Abstract
In the business sector, emerging technologies transformed financial management by enhancing accuracy, efficiency, and transparency. In Uganda, Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs) increasingly adopted IT solutions to tackle financial challenges. SACCOs were urged to adopt digitalization to improve operational efficiency and attract financial support. This call was made during the launch of a training program for SACCO leaders from the Kampala Metropolitan districts at the Stanbic Incubator offices in Kololo (Independent, 2024). However, many SACCOs struggled with poor financial data management, hindering their financial stability. To improve financial stability, some SACCOs leveraged USSD codes, allowing members to conduct transactions and check balances using basic mobile phones. Additionally, mobile applications were introduced for real-time notifications, transaction monitoring, and integration with mobile money services. These advancements underscored the critical role of Information Technology in modernizing SACCO operations, ensuring they could effectively manage financial processes and enhance member engagement in an increasingly digital world.
