Development of a collapsible grain dryer and storage system for small holder farmers
Abstract
This project focuses on the development of a collapsible grain drying and storage system tailored for smallholder farmers in Uganda. The system is designed to handle up to 100 kilograms of grain and utilizes sun drying, eliminating the need for an external heat source, thus reducing energy costs and ensuring sustainability. The primary goal is to address postharvest losses caused by inefficient traditional drying methods and inadequate storage facilities. The collapsible design enhances storage efficiency, making it adaptable to small-scale farming needs. This innovation aims to improve food security and economic stability for smallholder farmers by providing an affordable, efficient, and scalable drying solution.
