Abstract
A case study research design was used and both qualitative and quantitative research approaches were adopted in the study. A sample size of ten respondents was used consisting of 1 administrative staff, 2 lecturers, and 7 students while adopting the quantitative research approach in discussing findings. Data was collected using semi structured questionnaires, unstructured interviews and participant observation. And was quantitatively analyzed and presented with the help of tables. The finding revealed that there were a number of challenges faced by lecturers, students and administrative staff while interacting with the manual registration system especially during in the storing of the gathered registration sheets as well as the difficulties in retrieval a fact that called for the establishment of an automated system that would store all the attendance data in a database that allowed all time accessibility, restriction from unauthorized access and allow report generation. The study, therefore, recommended YMCA to adopt the proposed automate students’ registration system to provide a centralized centralized collection of attendance data, easy retrieval, enhance efficiency, limit wastage of resources, and join the modern and advanced world that’s characterized by the use of ICT tools.
