The basis of this project was to create a system that can verify legitimate land titles easily without any movement to the Ministry of Lands as a means to reduce the cases of land grabbing in Uganda (ANTHONY, 20th 2017). This verification system works in a way that a unique title number is given to each created land title after which it is embedded in a QR Code and the code printed on the land title document. This code is later decrypted by a mobile application we developed which salvages that title number and checks the Ministry of Lands database for a corresponding title number. When the title number matches one in the database, information about that particular land title is sent to the user via the mobile application. By this we mean that the information that is viewed on the application after scanning must match what is on the title deed from which the QR Code was obtained. If not, no information is displayed to the user after scanning. With this project we hope to build an alternative verification system for the Lands Authorities.
