Transformational Leadership, Employee Engagement and Organizational Commitment among Teachers in Selected Schools in Masaka District
Abstract
Many employees in this case teachers are still thought to face issues regarding organizational
commitment and this has been attributed to the type of transformation leadership they are
exposed to as well as their willingness to engage in to organizational activities. This research set
out to examine the relationship between transformation leadership, employee engagement and
organizational commitment among teachers. A correlational study design that is quantitative and
descriptive was adopted to establish the relationship between the variables. A total of 137
respondents, both male and female participated in the study. Data collected was analyzed using
Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), where Pearson Correlation Coefficient (r) was used
to test the significance of the hypotheses. The study revealed that there is no significant relationship
between transformational leadership and employee engagement among teachers; the study also
revealed that there was a significant relationship between transformational leadership and
organizational commitment among teachers. The study further showed that engagement and
organizational commitment have no significant relationship among teachers
