Abstract
This project presents a low cost and flexible home control and environmental monitoring system. It employs an embedded Arduino UNO microcontroller, with IP connectivity for accessing and controlling devices and appliances remotely. These appliances can be controlled via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Android based Smart phone app. The proposed system does not require a dedicated server PC with respect to similar system and often a novel communication protocol to monitor and control the home environment with more than just switching functionality. To demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the system appliances such as light switches, power plug, motion sensor and fan etc have been integrated with the proposed system.
System implementation was done using implementation tools that include: Arduino IDE, Fritzing C++ as a language.
The system was tested to check for faults and errors. Testing was done in two ways; which were component testing and system testing. In component testing, different modules of the system were tested like the Wi-Fi module, voice recognition module, Bluetooth module. Thereafter we combined all the modules and tested the system as a whole which is known as system testing
