    Abstract
    The project assessment of filing and storage of records at Kakiri Health Centre III. In the organization, records are created and managed in different ways. The project aimed suggesting best possible practices for filing and storage of records at Kakiri Health Center III that can help to serve patients all the time. The main purpose of this project was to assess the filing and storage of records at Kakiri Health Center, their management, challenges faced and possible solutions to the challenges. The objectives of the project were to: To establish the current status of filing and storage of records at Kakiri Health Centre III; to find out how filing and storage of records at Kakiri Health Centre III is managed, to identify the challenges of filing and storage at Kakiri Health Centre III and to make suggestions for the best practices in filing and storage of records at Kakiri Health Centre III The sample size comprised of 26 respondents and the findings also revealed that According to the findings the researcher managed to find out the filing processes and activities provided at KHC III and they include; processing records, returning of records to files, charge out, cross referencing and forms among others the study also revealed that the records department uses alphabetical filing where letters are used. The challenges were experienced in records filing and storage were poor file folders, limited storage space, lack of filing scheme and untrained records managers, records, limited capital, long queues in the library, information overload The researcher concludes that there were many challenges identified by the respondents which hinder records filing and storage for example problems like misfiling, misplacement, overcrowding of files and lack of enough space. The researcher recommended that the management of KHC III should recruit and train staff members, acquisition of more storage equipment, Proper ventilation of the records center, Automation of records Management center, having Controlled Access to records and introducing a Records Management policy The researcher recommends that the Library staff should be trained on how to use the suggestions brought in can be manipulated into the institution’s policies and guidelines.
