    Assessing the Deterioration of paper Records of most at Risk Population Initiative (MARPI) Registry in Mulago Hospital

    Abstract
    A study was undertaken to assess the deterioration of paper records at Most at Risk Initiative Population(MARPI) in mulago hospital. It was centered on the following objectives; to find out the types of records kept at Most at Risk Population Initiative (MARPI) deterioration of paper records in Mulago hospital, to find out the causes and effects of deterioration of paper records and to propose the solutions to the challenges and recommendations to the organization. The study adopted a case study design. Data was collected using interviews and observation. The registry staff were purposively selected for empirical data collection because the researcher believed that they had reliable information on deterioration of paper records. The findings revealed that paper records mostly deteriorate due to humidity and temperature, poor handling of records and excessive use, moisture and so on. The registry had arrangements for handling deteriorated paper records and they are made better for further use such as dressing of torn files that is replacing old files with the new ones. Access to the registry is controlled by serving clients from the counter and locking where the registry staff control the keys thus avoiding threats
