An online patient-doctor appointment scheduling information system for Makerere University Hospital
Abstract
The project study examined the relationship between Patient and Doctor at Makerere University Hospital. The project aimed at designing a Patient - Doctor Scheduling System that can help to serve global users all the time. The main purpose of this project was to examine the current problems faced by the patients and the librarians while using and providing Patient-Doctor Scheduling respectively hence coming up with the design of an E-Patient-Doctor Scheduling system.
The objectives of the study were to: identify the information needs of users at Makerere University Hospital, elicit and document requirements for an online patient-doctor scheduling information system for Makerere University Hospital, Design an online Patient-Doctor Scheduling information system for Makerere University Hospital. the sample size composed of 48 respondents, 4 hospital staff and 40 patients. During data analysis and presentation data was analyzed using the different data process that enables the researcher to eliminate any erroneous data, ethical considerations which include informed consent, confidentiality, openness and limitations of the study.
the findings revealed that most patients are ignorant about the scheduling system with the doctors, the findings further revealed that the current scheduling module used at Makerere University Hospital was so cumbersome where the Hospital patron had to walk physically to the Hospital Desk.
In conclusion the proposed online Patient-Doctor Scheduling system is better, that it was improve on the Patient -Doctor Scheduling system is better, that it was improve on the Patient-Doctor relationship, however it can work hand in hand with the current module of Patient-Doctor Scheduling provision.
