    Abstract
This study examines the factors affecting the consumption of gospel music in Kampala District. The discussion focuses on how the Church influence, marketing, monopoly of the gospel music industry by some prominent artists, attitudes about gospel music, management of stardom, training of the artists and styles or genres inform the consumption of gospel music. The research reveals that there are both positive and negative factors that affect the consumption of gospel music in Kampala District. Such factors as increase in technologies of dissemination, pastors taking on the role of singing gospel music and innovation of different music styles have attracted more gospel music listeners and followers thus increasing the consumption of gospel music in Kampala. The research also reveals that the development of gospel music is based in Kampala District because that is where many gospel music artists are based.
