    Abstract
Uganda is situated between two seismically active branches of the East African Rift valley System; the Western Rift valley which stretches from Aswa fault zone in the north to Lake Tanganyika in the South and the Eastern Rift valley stretching from Lake Turkana in he north to Lake Eyasi in the south. Most parts of the country are therefore exposed to seismic hazards of varying degrees.
