Decent work environment, employee engagement and job satisfaction among the employees of the Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) in Kampala.
Abstract
The purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between Decent Work Environment, Employee Engagement and Job Satisfaction among the employees of Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC). The study was guided by the following research objectives: To examine the relationship between Decent Work Environment and Job Satisfaction among the employees of UHRC, to examine the relationship between Employee Engagement and Job Satisfaction among the employees of UHRC and the third is to examine the relationship between decent work and employee engagement among the employees of UHRC. A correlational and quantitative research design was used in the selection of 135 employees. Data was collected using questionnaires. The data was analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS 17). Results showed that there was no significant relationship between Decent Work Environment and Job Satisfaction among the employees of UHRC, and no significant relationship between decent work and employee engagement among the employees of UHRC .The results also showed that there was a significant relationship between Employee Engagement and Job Satisfaction among the employees of UHRC. The study therefore recommended that it is crucial for the management in UHRC to continuously develop the Decent Work Environment and Employee Engagement as this will help attain Employee Engagement effectively, ensure that employees are highly committed at work and the management of UHRC, management should also understand and improve always on their employee engagement so as to attain better Employee Engagement.
