Ugandan Law firms have reportedly failed to catch up with the technological wave that is sweeping all over the world. Whereas their overseas counterparts are embracing legal work automation tools, firms in Uganda claim that the available tools are knitted abroad, expensive, cannot fully accommodate their needs, are over-scoped, and have a foreign diction, which is not suited for Uganda’s justice system. Hence a rejection of the technology. The lack of use of ICT in the justice system has led to delays in administering justice to the victims.
This report follows the implementation of the Legal Work automation tool from the inception phase to the completion. It’s a tool that provides an automated way for clients to have easy access to law firms and legal services provided by them as well as making it easy for the law firms to carry out their day-to-day legal work processes in serving its people and solve problems that are faced by the different law firm in Uganda.
The report begins with discussing the design of the WAT-L system, discusses the implementation process and the test outcomes. Appendix A provides the user manual of the system.
