The aim of the study was to assess records storage and filing at KLIC. The study was guided by the four research objectives which included; To identify the different types of records created and received at Kampala Library and Information Centre; To assess the current records storage and filing system at Kampala Library and Information Centre; To examine the requirements needed for the design of a records storage and filing system; To design a suitable system to improve records storage and filing practices at the Kampala.
The study was conducted using purposive approaches to gather information from respondents who included; librarians and records officers at KLIC. Data was also collected using interview guides as well as observation guides as data collection tools.
Findings indicated that the most commonly available method of storage and filing KLIC records is following the subject and date of creation of records thus leading to poor records storage and filing that may result into misplacement, loss of records and delay in retrieving information.
So the project concluded by designing a storage and filing system for Kampala Library and Information Center.
