    Abstract
The major objective of this study was to examine the effect of domestic violence on the performance of pupils in Kyadondo County, Wakiso District. The study further had three specific objectives and three hypotheses that were all used to achieve the purpose of the study. The study applied a non-experimental design known as a descriptive survey research design. The population for this study includes all the pupils in primary seven (7) in the four (4) primary schools that in Kyadondo County, Wakiso District. This study used a non-probability kind of sampling called purposive sampling. Cochran (1963) equation was used to yield a representative sample for proportions thus obtaining a sample of 100 respondents. The questionnaires that were administered to the pupils from the four (4) primary schools in Kyadondo County, Wakiso District were both open ended and close ended. This method was chosen because wide data can be obtained and it limits bias on the side of the researcher. Once the administered questionnaires are gathered, the data analysis was done according to the research objectives. Thus, all the data was collected from respondents was analyzed based on descriptive statistical analysis by using the SPSS software so as to obtain a more statistical analysis of the study. Chi-square test was used by the researcher for bivariate analysis of two categorical variables. A multivariate linear regression model was used to show the effect of domestic violence (and other factors) on academic performance of pupils. This model helps to understand how much the dependent variable change when change the independent variables. Results from a bivariate analysis revealed that domestic violence has a significant effect on a pupil’s school attendance, academic performance, pupil’s school behavioural patterns and pupil’s class participation at 5% significance level. Last but not least, study results from multivariate analysis revealed that there are significant relation between domestic violence, age of pupil, household size, family income as independent variables and pupil’s academic performance which is the dependent variable. The study therefore recommends that domestic violence awareness campaigns should be put in place in Kyadondo County, Wakiso District, when people become aware of the dangers and effects domestic violence has on lives. It keeps the issue alive and important
