End User Agreement

Welcome to the Makerere University Institutional Repository (MakIR). By accessing, using, or submitting content to this repository, you agree to abide by the terms outlined in this End User Agreement.

1. Purpose

MakIR is a digital repository for collecting, preserving, and providing access to the scholarly and research output of Makerere University. Content is made available to enhance learning, research, and global scholarly communication.

2. Permitted Use

Content in this repository may be viewed, downloaded, and used for personal study, research, and educational purposes. Users must not redistribute, alter, or commercially exploit repository content unless permitted by the license on the item.

3. Copyright and Licensing

Copyright remains with the author or copyright holder. Where applicable, works may be distributed under Creative Commons or other specified licenses. Users must comply with the license attached to each item and acknowledge the original author and source when using the content.

4. Submission & Depositor Responsibilities

Depositors affirm they have the right to submit content and grant Makerere University a non-exclusive license to store, preserve, and provide access to the materials. Content that violates copyright, privacy, or legal restrictions may be removed.

5. Privacy & Data Protection

MakIR operates in accordance with the Data Protection and Privacy Act (Uganda, 2019) and Makerere University policies. User data, where collected, is used only for repository management and security.

6. Accuracy and Liability

Content is provided “as-is.” Makerere University does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or legal compliance of deposited works. Users assume responsibility for verifying rights and correctness.

7. Removal or Restriction of Content

Makerere University may withdraw or restrict access to content that violates legal, security, or policy requirements.

8. Agreement

By continuing to use MakIR, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted these terms and agree to comply with them.
