Abstract
The aim of the study was to examine the relationship between substance abuse, self esteem and academic performance among adolescents. The study was conducted at Kololo secondary school located in Kampala District. A correlation study design was used as 70 school going adolescent students participated in the study. Semi structured questionnaire were the main tools in data collection and data was analyzed using the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) Pearson’s correlation co-efficient(r) was used to determine the level of significant relationship between substance abuse and academic performance. However results revealed that there was no significant relationship between substance abuse and self esteem as well as self esteem and academic performance among adolescents as swell as self esteem
