dc.description.abstract Excessive speeding is a major contributor to road traffic accidents in Uganda however, there are continued efforts by the government to regulate overspeeding. This project therefore addresses this concern by designing and implementing a Real-Time Dynamic Vehicle Speed Governor (RT-DVSG) system on the Highway. This system aims to precisely control a vehicle’s speed in real time, enhancing safety and potentially improving fuel efficiency The system includes the following components Speed-Sensing Unit: This unit will employ sensors to measure the vehicle’s speed accurately using specific sensors like infrared speed sensors and GPS receivers GPS is used for the actual location of the vehicle Control Unit (Raspberry pi 4): This is the heart of the system, in which this unit will receive speed data from the sensors, process this data in real time, and compare it to a pre-programmed desired speed limit. Based on this comparison, the control unit will determine the necessary adjustments. Actuation Unit: This unit translates the control unit’s signals into physical actions to regulate the vehicle’s speed. This involves controlling the engine throttle to adjust power or engaging the brakes to slow down. Field map and Dashboard: A digital map showcases the vehicle’s location, designated speed zones along the Masaka Highway, and potentially additional information like traffic conditions. A user-friendly dashboard provides real-time feedback on speed, sets speed limits based on location, and alerts for exceeding limits. en_US
