dc.description.abstract Integrated Library Systems(ILS) has been adopted by most libraries to aid in the proper running of their services, Makerere university main library inclusive. The aim of this study is to establish the effectiveness of virtua system in running the daily activities of the library since its adoption in the late 1900s. Interviews were used where the librarians were asked on how effective the system has been since its implementation by the library, Observations and questionnaires were used as well. The results show that the use of virtua system has made the work of librarians easy especially when it comes to cataloguing, circulation of library services and others. It is however recommended that more equipment and gadgets like computers with strong network connections be purchased to help in full implementation of the system. en_US
