dc.description.abstract This research explores the different figures of speech in different proverbs: A Case study of selected proverbs of the Banyankole. This research was conducted in cell 8 in Ntungamo district in western Uganda. The different people I approached showed me that proverbs had various interpretations, subject matter, stylistic devices used in saying them. These helped to define the different figures of speech of each proverb that I encountered during my study. I realised that there is a difference in knowledge of Oral Literature especially proverbs because the old people would know what they meant and forgot a few of them. however, I managed to get relevant information during my interviews to get information which has helped me to come up with the knowledge which I put in this study research. en_US
