dc.description.abstract To investigate Communication difficulties in children with Motor Speech Disorders having cerebral palsy. A cross-sectional design was used to study communication difficulties in children and their impact on participation. Data collectioninvolved a structured questionnaire covering demographics, communication difficulties and theireffects on participation. The Communication Function Classification System (CFCS) was used to further assess the severity and real-life impact of communication impairment. Of the 25 participants, 16 (64%) were male and 17 (68%) were aged 1-4 years.19 (76%) presented with communication difficulties, including 15 (60%) who were nonverbal,18 (72) % with unintelligible speech, and 18 (72%) unable to follow instructions. Participation was severely limited: 19 (76%) were not attending school, 23 (92%) could not read or write and 19 (76%) had no friends;only2(8%) engaged in school activities, and 14 (56%) were unable to perform any daily living task independently. This study showed that Children with motor speech disorders have communication difficulties that affect their social and community participation which lowers their quality of life. en_US
