Abstract
This research was carried out to investigate the images embedded in selected soga proverbs and how they effectively communicate their meaning. This research shows that Soga proverbs mainly use visual imagery to communicate meaning according to reader response theory. This study also shows how those images are understood by the reader or audience Though there are several studies that have been taken on Soga proverbs, there is no study that focuses on the use of imagery and how they effectively communicate their meaning to the audience. Therefore, this study fills the gap by analyzing selected soga proverbs and their effective use of imagery in communicating meaning. This research started on 29th February 2024 through qualitative research approach focusing mainly on secondary sources of information that is to say, various prints and materials. The findings of this study concludes that imagery in soga proverbs provokes the mind of the listener to a wider perception of the intrepretation thus being effective in communicating meaning.
