dc.description.abstract The use of tyre- derived fuel (TDF) as a supplemental fuel in cement kilns provides solution to tyre disposal and cost reduction in the use of fossil fuels. This report presents the expected gaseous emissions from the co – combustion of tyres with the conventional kiln fuel (coal) at Tororo Cement Limited basing on a theoretical simulation using Microsoft excel software. Basing on the theoretical simulated results, two cases were considered on heat basis analysis. The first case was a comparison of emissions on combustion of 50000kJ of TDF and coal separately. The simulation results showed 2%, 65%, 25%, and 93% increase in CO2, SO2, NOX, and H2O respectively. The second case was a comparison of emissions on the complete combustion of 4.5GJ of coal only and 30%-70% TDF-coal fuel mixture. The simulation results showed a 4%, 40%, 13%, and 83% increase in in CO2, SO2, NOX, and H2O respectively. However, the total change in mass of gaseous emissions produced was negligible. en_US
