dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study is to analyse the different ways how characters use defense mechanisms to reduce stress. More specifically, the study aims at identifying the different defense mechanisms used by the characters to reduce stress and anxiety. The study was conducted in Acholi subregion in Northern Uganda. The data was collected through recording, observation, interviewing and group discussions. The available data was transcribed, translated and it involved identifying the different forms of defense mechanisms in the fables as advanced by different scholars. en_US
