dc.description.abstract Medical records are a vital asset in ensuring that hospitals are run effectively and efficiently. They support clinical decision-making, provide evidence of policies and support the hospitals in cases of litigation. This paper reveals the numerous methods, challenges and assessment of the staffing requirements of the management of medical record management in the radiology department of Mulago national referral hospital. The study emphasised the concept, types and significance of medical records, in view of the methods, challenges and assessment of the staffing requirements for the management of medical records affecting the radiology department. Aim The study aimed at evaluating the challenges and staffing requirements for medical records management in the radiology department of Mulago national referral hospital (Uganda). Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out in the radiology department of Mulago national referral hospital. The study participants were qualified radiographers of Mulago national referral hospital. The sample size was 50 radiographers. Data was collected using self-administered questionnaires. The findings were documented and data was analyzed manually and using Statistical package for the social science, and Microsoft excel. The study documented the challenges and the staff requirements of medical records management in the radiology department and the possible solutions to the challenges were recommended/ addressed. This will therefore help in improving the records management practices and hence effective and efficient radiological service. en_US
