dc.description.sponsorship Introduction Urban authorities are being faced with big challenges in providing municipal solid waste management services. Poor municipal solid waste management adversely affects socio-economic development and leads to poor health. Aim of the Study The study assessed community participation in sustainable municipal solid waste management in Kayunga Town Council. It sought to establish whether community participation adequately contributed to sustainable municipal solid waste management. Methodology A descriptive cross-sectional survey design with qualitative and quantitative research methods was used. Data collection tools included structured and semi-structured questionnaires and observational checklists. Results Study findings showed that there was inadequate community participation at the planning, implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation of municipal solid waste management activities in Kayunga Town Council. Use of solid waste receptacles was 76/101 (75.2%), practising reduce, reuse, recycle and recover methods of solid waste disposal was 14//101 (13.9%) and practising crude dumping was 20/101 (19.8%). Conclusion Community participation in municipal solid waste management in Kayunga Town Council was still inadequate due to inadequate monitoring and poor community attitude regarding municipal solid waste management.
