dc.description.abstract This dissertation draws from the culture of the “Baganda,” a major kingdom in the central region of Uganda. The major focus of this dissertation is placed on finding the images of hard-work in selected “Ganda” proverbs, how the choice of words used in these proverbs portray these images, and the implication of these images of hard-work in the selected “Ganda” proverbs. Fifty proverbs have been selected for the study. These were gotten from the existing literature on “Baganda” and interviews from the native speakers. The data collected is meticulously analysed in line with the objectives. The research has found out that the “Baganda” have specific proverbs on hard-work and these greatly thrive on the use of images and the choice of words employed. Last, these images of hard-work profoundly communicate the native speakers who are intrigued to reflect on their actions. en_US
