dc.description.abstract The study investigated the relationship between stress and academic performance among secondary school students. The study aimed to achieve the following objectives; To find out the nature of stress among secondary school students, to examine the causes of stress among secondary school students and to evaluate the relationship between stress and academic performance of secondary school students. A correlation study design was used in the study to establish the relationship between stress and academic performance among secondary school students. The study used a sample of 50 respondents who were obtained using simple random sampling technique. Data was collected using self-administered questionnaires and later analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Scientists version 20. The findings show that there is a significant negative relationship between occupational stress and job performance since (p=.000< 0.01 at r=.586**) in conclusion, this implies that presence or increase in stress among students leads to an increase in academic performance among secondary school students. en_US
