Abstract
The Leave Management System (LMS) aims at streamlining the process of managing employee leave information within an organization. The main objective of this project was to develop a leave management system for human resource managers to manage leave for employees. The system is a web-based platform that offers a user-friendly interface, ensuring accessibility and efficiency in managing leave related information within an organisation. Key features include leave application, leave approval, admin dashboard, leave reports, leave history, email and SMS services among many others. An iterative model SDLC approach (RAD) was used to develop the system since it allows for rapid prototyping, ensuring faster delivery of a functional product. Next.js, a React framework was utilized in the front-end and backend implementation with Tailwind CSS in styling the user interfaces. The outcome was a Leave Management platform where employees can submit leave requests online by specifying a leave type, duration, reason and attaching any relevant document to support the request. HR managers can also review and approve or reject leave requests through a user-friendly interface. The system automatically calculates employee leave balances, sends email and SMS notifications, ensure adherence to organization’s leave policies and generates reports on leave usage, providing valuable insights for the HR department.
