Abstract
This study examined the relationships between perceived organizational support (POS), happiness at work (HAW) and organizational citizenship behaviour (OCB) among secondary school teachers in Uganda.. A correlational research design was used. Data was gathered from a randomly selected sample of 208 full time payroll teachers working in Kampala secondary schools using structured questionnaires. Data was entered into SPSS, after which, cleaned by checking for missing values, out-of-range entries, and outliers before analysis. Pearson's correlation coefficient was used to test the hypotheses. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between POS and HAW (r = .677, p < 0.01), between HAW andOCB(r=.177, p= .0.05 ), and between POS and OCB ( r = .265 , p < 0.01 ). All three null hypotheses were therefore rejected. The study concluded that teachers who feel supported by school leadership are happier at work and show more extra role behaviors. It recommended that school administrators strengthen supportive practices, recognise teachers’ achievements, and distribute extra role duties fairly. It equally recommended that the Ministry of Education and Sports ans the District Education Office include supportive leadership and teacher well-being in head teacher training and school supervision. Future research should test HAW as a mediator between POS OCB.
