Parenting styles, self esteem and drug abuse among adolescents

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to investigate the relationship between parenting styles, self-esteem and drug abuse among adolescents of St Marks College Namagoma. The study adopted a correlational survey design that is quantitative in nature with a population of 100 students. A census sampling technique was adopted by the researcher because the total number of students in this school was relatively small thus, in order to avoid sampling bias, this technique was used to draw a sample of 100 respondents. Data was collected using a 20 item parenting styles 10 questions of self-esteem and 15 questions of drug abuse.
